[더프리뷰=서울] 이종찬 기자 = 대안공간 루프에서 새로운 전시의 형식과 담론을 제시할 독립 큐레이터의 현대미술 전시기획을 공모한다. 독립 큐레이터는 제도화된 기관에서 분리되어 미술 제도에 대한 대안을 제시하는 문화운동가라는 믿음에서 루프가 매년 진행하는 전시 기획 공모전이다.
2020년 선정된 대만과 싱가포르의 독립 큐레이터 니엔-팅 첸(Nien-Ting Chen)과 잭스턴 수(Jaxton Su)의 기획전 <멜팅팟 속으로>는 한국 관객들에게 많은 관심과 호응을 받은 바 있다. 현대미술 전시가 갖는 또 다른 공적 가치를 실험하며 큐레이터의 사회적 역할을 새롭게 정의할 전시를 지원한다.
＊독립 큐레이터 공모는 루프가 함께 진행하는 작가 공모(개인전 지원)와는 별도의 공모 프로그램이며, 지원자의 개인전을 위한 전시 기획안은 심사에서 제외된다.

2022 International Open Call for Independent Curator, Alternative Space LOOP
Alternative Space Loop is looking for independent curators to program and realize contemporary art exhibitions that open up new formal and discursive possibilities for art shows. This new initiative is rooted in our belief that independent curators are cultural activists able to offer new perspectives for the art world, unaffiliated as they are to specific institutions or organizations. We seek to offer support to bold and innovative curatorial projects that explore the public value of contemporary art exhibitions and redefine the social role of the curator.
Nien-Ting Chen(Taiwan) and Jaxton Su(Singapore), the independent curator duo, was selected in 2020 and their exhibition has received a huge applause from the Korean art scene. We look forward to applications from independent curators eager to open up a new art discourse.
＊Please note that this call for independent curators is separate from the call for artists (support for solo exhibitions). Applications to curate the applicant’s own solo show will not be considered for review.

－Exhibitions which already have been shown will be excluded.

Selection Process
－1st process: Selection by LOOP Curatorial Department
